CHOIR
Huguenot Primary School boasts with an excellent Junior and Senior Choir. We regularly participate in a variety of performances and competitions with great success. These include well-regarded eisteddfods, choir festivals, singing at church services, as well as national competitions such as the ATKV Applous Choir Competition and Sing in Harmonie. In 2018 we were named national winners in the Sing in Harmonie series, which was broadcast on kykNET, and have achieved outstanding provincial success in the ATKV Applous Competition.
We host a choir festival annually for choirs from surrounding schools and also perform regularly as guest artists at various functions. Performances mostly take place in the evenings or on weekends.
After choir auditions have been completed with the choir director, learners are eligible to be considered as choir members. The Junior and Senior Choir rehearse during school hours.
Choir members must wear formal school uniform for performances.

EISTEDDFOD
Huguenot learners participate in the Paarl Valley and Tygerberg International Eisteddfods every year with great success. We boast with a tradition of numerous cup winners/category winners and outstanding achievements at these eisteddfods.
Our learners participate in a wide variety of categories. These include, among others, the following:

- Drama (Monologue/ Dramatised Prose/ Dialogue)
- Oratory
- Unprepared reading
- Handwriting

ORATORY
Ons bied ‘n gespesialiseerde platform waar leerders hul vaardighede in openbare redevoering en optrede voor mense kan ontwikkel. Graad 4- tot 7-sprekers word voorberei om aan voorbereide kompetisies deel te neem, terwyl daar, met die oog op die ATKV-redenaarskompetisie, gespesialiseerde afrigting vir onvoorbereide toesprake in graad 6 en 7 is. Redenaars neem aan plaaslike, sowel as nasionale kompetisies deel. Dit sluit onder andere die volgende in:
- ATKV-Redenaars
- Oppie Tong Af
- Radikale Redenaars
- Tygerberg Internasionale Eisteddfod
By redenaarsklasse word daar ook, na afloop van deelname aan kompetisies, onderrig in basiese dramavaardighede onderrig.

CULTURAL EVENINGS AND CONCERTS
We host two cultural evenings annually where we show off the cream of our versatile cultural achievements.
Whole-school concerts take place once every seven years. We also host a “Huguenot’s Got Talent” competition and a Melodrama regularly.
ART EXHIBITION
Huguenot Primary School holds a large art exhibition every few years where our learners’ artwork is showcased. This prestige event is always a classy highlight on our cultural calendar.
VISITORS AND EXCURSIONS
Every year, the school invites the Storieskip theatre team to equip our children with life lessons and valuable theatre etiquette in an entertaining way.
Many well-known and award-winning authors regularly talk to our children about new children’s books, introduce new books to our learners and help unlock the wonder of words for our learners.
